Black Egyptian cotton 24/3 to 170/2
Black Egyptian cotton -
This yarn is a long fiber cotton, made from Egyptian cotton, carded and then combed.
It is then gassed, which means that it has passed through a flame, this treatment removing any down, making it particularly smooth.
It is then mercerized, another treatment that this time makes the yarn shiny and resistant.
The number after the size indication indicates the number of ends, or strands of wire.
The height of the fuse is 6.5 cm, the diameter varies depending on the size of the cotton.
Every fusette is protected.
According to a well-established tradition, the numbers of lace yarns fall under the English numbering (NE), which corresponds to the number of skeins of 840 yards (768.1 meters) contained in an English pound (453.6 grams). So it makes sense that the lower the number, the bigger the wire and therefore the higher the number, the thinner the wire.
